Tour Overview

Step into the story of Northern Thailand with this 4 Day Mae Hong Son Loop Tour—an adventure that takes you from the bustling streets of Chiang Mai to the tranquil villages and misty mountains of Mae Hong Son province. Along the way, discover ancient temples, vibrant cultures, and awe-inspiring landscapes that will stay in your memory long after the trip ends.

Day 1:

Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your Chiang Mai hotel. As the van climbs into the highlands, your first stop awaits: Doi Inthanon National Park, the rooftop of Thailand. Wander among cloud-kissed gardens and marvel at the King and Queen Pagoda, each telling stories of the Thai monarchy’s love for nature.

Next, feel the cool spray of Wachiratarn Waterfall, its powerful cascade providing the perfect backdrop for photos and fresh mountain air. After lunch, step into history at Obluang National Park, where towering cliffs and swirling rivers mark the footsteps of prehistoric humans.

As the sun sets, the road leads you to Maesariang, a peaceful riverside town. Check-in at River House Resort, where the evening invites you to relax, dine, and prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 2: Maesariang – Muang Mae Hong Son: Caves, Flowers & Hill Tribe Encounters

Wake up to the sounds of the river and enjoy breakfast before heading to Kaew Komol Cave, a dazzling limestone wonder with crystal-white walls that sparkle under flashlight beams.

If you’re traveling between late November and mid-December, the surrounding hills at Doi Mae U-Kho will be painted gold with Mexican Sunflowers—a photographer’s dream.

After lunch, cultural immersion awaits at Ban Huay Pu Keng, home to the Karen Long Neck tribe. Meet the villagers, hear their stories, and learn about their unique traditions, from weaving to their iconic neck rings.

Later, stroll around Wat Jong Kham and Wat Jong Klang, two beautiful temples reflected in the calm waters of Jong Kham Lake. Watch as the setting sun turns the temple spires golden, creating a moment of pure tranquility. Overnight at Fern Resort, nestled deep in nature.

Day 3: Muang Mae Hong Son – Pai: Misty Views, Village Flavors & Cave Adventures

The morning starts with sweeping views from Phra That Doi Kong Mu Temple, where mist drifts over the valley and the town lies like a hidden gem below.

Continue to Ban Jabo, a small Lahu village perched high on a ridge. Sit on a wooden platform enjoying a simple but delicious bowl of noodle soup while gazing out over endless mountains.

After lunch, dive into nature’s mystery at Tham Lod Cave, drifting through dark caverns on a bamboo raft, guided by soft lantern light. See enormous chambers, stalactites, and ancient teakwood coffins carved by hands long gone.

As the day ends, head to Phra That Mae Yen Temple for a spectacular sunset over Pai. If you prefer a less challenging walk, we offer an alternative sunset spot at Two Huts Pai.

Spend the evening soaking up Pai’s bohemian vibe at Pai Walking Street, then rest at the comfortable Yoma Hotel.

Day 4: Pai – Chiang Mai: Sunrise, Villages & Final Adventures

Rise early to catch sunrise at Yun Lai Viewpoint, where a sea of mist floats over Pai Valley. The view is simply unforgettable.

Next, stroll through Santichon Village, a Chinese Yunnanese settlement rich in culture. Sip local tea, explore traditional mud-brick houses, and snap colorful photos.

Afterward, cool off at Mor Pang Waterfall, where natural pools invite a refreshing dip.

Following lunch, explore the striking red-earth ridges of Pai Canyon, with narrow paths and wide views over the valley.

Your last stop is the historical Tha Pai Memorial Bridge, built during World War II—a spot filled with both history and scenic beauty.

Finally, relax during your drive back to Chiang Mai, arriving around 7:00 pm with memories of your 4 Day Mae Hong Son Loop Tour adventure.
